All of our Aussie puppies are raised in our home and never kenneled. They are born in our whelping room and raised with us until they are about 4-weeks-old and then they move to our indoor puppy room, with a "puppy gate" to the kitchen area. The indoor kennel has a "doggie door" to the outside fenced in puppy area. Our dogs enjoy a "dog pack" life here at Mossy Creek. At four-weeks-old, the babies begin actively socializing with the rest of the dog pack, outside. They know everyone already from their visits while still in their whelping box :) This is such an excellent beginning. Our Australian shepherd puppies learn manners, respect for others, rules, and a host of other important lessons for a well adjusted family life. All of our dogs and puppies interact daily amongst themselves (Mossy Creek's Aussie pack); with children, adults, chickens, cats and are introduced to horses and a donkey, too.

Some of The Mossy Creek Pack
Our Australian shepherd puppies start learning how to potty outside from very young. They have a "potty box" with wood chips in their area in the puppy room. After a week we take the potty box away and the tarp that has been their flooring. We fence off most of the puppy room to just their sleeping quarters close to the puppy door. This encourages them to potty outside instead of messing up their sleeping area and makes potty training a snap for their new owners!
